FAQ - Questions and Answers

Generally

A garden fire not only creates a beautiful atmosphere, but also allows you to grill on the stainless steel plate and/or the grill grate. Thus, a garden fire represents the perfect symbiosis of ambiance and functionality.

Only use your garden fire on a level, stable and fireproof surface such as stone, tile or sand floors.

Do not place any flammable liquids or materials near the garden fire. We recommend a safety distance of at least five meters from flammable objects. This includes awnings, garden umbrellas, sun sails, etc.

Never leave your garden fire unattended, even with safety distances in place.

Distribute the wood evenly in the combustion chamber and heat the fire for approximately one hour to "burn in" the stainless steel plate. The stainless steel plate will warp slightly due to the heat. This warping is normal and not a product defect. Upon cooling, the plate will return almost to its original shape.

Light the wood using commercially available firelighters. Wear heat-resistant protective gloves.

Stack the logs into a pyramid to ignite them optimally. Ideally, use designated kindling. Always monitor the heat development of your garden fire before adding more wood. To protect the food and the fire from excessive heat, we recommend using less wood initially and adding more regularly.

No, the fire bowls are designed exclusively for use with wood.

If you don't want to grill on the entire grill plate, you can distribute the wood unevenly in the combustion chamber after lighting it.

We recommend using a little oil, otherwise the food may stick to the stainless steel plate or grill grate. Hot-pressed olive oil is particularly suitable.

Should you be caught in rain while using the fire, we recommend extinguishing it with sand. Water can damage the fire when extinguishing it.

Depending on the type of garden fire, there are suitable accessories such as covers or lids to protect against rain or snow.

TIP: To prevent a pool of water from forming in the middle of the cover, we recommend placing a wooden board or similar material underneath the area where the cover can sag.

cleaning

We recommend removing any large residues with a spatula while the plate is still warm. If necessary, the stainless steel plate can be cleaned with a sponge once it has cooled down. Otherwise, further cleaning is unnecessary, as a patina will form on the surface and any remaining residue will evaporate the next time it is heated. Discoloration on the surface of the stainless steel plate is normal and results from the juices of the food being grilled and the high heat of the fire.
